The Gardnerville Elementary School community has developed three basic rules to guide student behavior.
1. BE SAFE
2. BE RESPECTFUL
3. BE RESPONSIBLE
BE SAFE To have a safe learning environment, students must behave in a safe way and take care of their surroundings.
Examples of be safe: Eat food at recess under the covered picnic tables, not on the playground Use playground equipment properly Notify an adult of spills Play to have fun, not to win-not too rough
BE RESPECTFULTo have a positive sense of self, there must be respect between and among the children and adults at the school.
Some examples of behavior that foster respect are: Be cooperative with all adults, including substitutes and parents Raise your hand to speak Use "put ups" Walk quietly in the halls Use a green voice and manners in the cafeteria
BE RESPONSIBLEAll students can learn and help others learn if they behave in an appropriate way. To be successful in school, students must not only attend, but also come ready to learn. They should be well rested and have a good breakfast.
Examples of be responsible: Come to school every day, on time Have all your homework and other materials with you Leave toys at home Follow directions the first time Keep your hands and feet to yourself
